Ecosystem Dynamics

We're interested in studying the dynamics of marine organisms, from microbes to zooplankton and larval fishes, to gain a better understanding of how organisms respond to stressors and inform how we can make our ecosystems more resilient to future changes. Molecular techniques can help fill the gaps in knowledge of marine and estuarine biology and ecology in ways that aren't possible with traditional methods.

From Microbes to Zooplankton

We are looking at wetlands in the San Francisco Estuary in different stages of restoration, identifying biological indicators of food web connections and wetland condition using next-generation DNA sequencing
